Dear Carl,

I am including spouses with the individuals you have requested. Keep in mind that, in some cases, there are others of the family on these same pages. And please make use of the "One Name Research" page on our website. There are other Briggs lookup requests there which may provide more information, and contacts.

Cemeteries of Brown Co, Illinois 1825-1972

Gilbrids Cemetery, Elkhorn Township, p. 62:

    Constance Briggs, w/o James A. Perry (d. 5 Apr 1898 aged 70-10-12)

    James A. Perry (d. 23 Oct 1887 aged 60-10-13)

    Solomon Briggs (11 June 1831-6 Sep 1880)

    Mary, w/o Solomon Briggs (11 Nov 1833-5 Aug 1868)

Buckhorn Cemetery, Lee Township, p. 88, 92:

    John L. Briggs (d. 19 Mar 1863 aged 12y)??

    J. L. (John L.) Briggs (1822-?) Page 92 gives his full name, but only "J. L." appears on p. 88, in reference to his children's burials: Sallie & Stephen, both young. John's wife, who is not named, is listed also, having died 4 Aug 1861 at age 31-10-7. Page 88 does not have a specific listing for John L. Briggs, the husband, and I am inclined to think that the John L. (d. age 12) may have the wrong age at death, and could be an adult. He is listed just preceding the wife who died at age 31.

Infant of Richard M. & Theresa J. (Morgan) Briggs (24 Dec 1868) No other dates or age given.

Infant of Philip & Lunda Briggs (May 5-7, 1902)

Beans Cemetery, Missouri Township, p. 113:

Infant of Alfred & Delores (Kelley) Briggs - no dates given.

Mt. Sterling City Cemetery, p. 207:

Infant son of Vernon & Hazel (Curran) Briggs (1929) No other dates or age given.

Briggs Cemetery, Versailles Township, p. 334:

    Solomon Briggs, s/o Samuel & Rebecca (Perry) Briggs (d. 8 Jan 1862 aged 21-9-8)

Samuel Briggs (21 Apr 1810-9 Jul 1898) (This one is the husband of Rebecca Perry)

Rebecca (Perry), w/o Samuel Briggs (26 Aug 1812-30 Mar 1895)

Samuel Briggs, s/o (26 Aug 1813-30 May 1895) There is no explanation of this Samuel's relationship to the other. They presumably could be cousins.

I am searching for the Briggs family in Brown County, Illinois.  John Lemuel Briggs and Constance Peacock came from North Carolina to Illinois in about 1830.  I show them in Brown County in the 1840 Census.  Their daughter, from whom I am a descendant, Elizabeth Briggs was married to John Stephens in Schuyler County in 1833.  I found some potential family names in the permanent residence section of Brown County that I would greatly appreciate your giving me further information so I can determine whether or not they are my relatives:

             Constance Briggs                62

             John L Briggs                       88

             Infant Son Briggs                 207

             Infant Briggs                         88 (2), 113

             Solomon Briggs                   62, 334

             Samuel Briggs                     334 (2)

Thank you very much for your assistance.
