My husband has forwarded your request to my computer for a followup.

The Brown County records are woefully silent when it comes to Caspar Huffman and Hannah Snodgrass. I did find Hannah as a child in the 1850 census in Cooperstown (included below), which you may already have. And I found a Civil War record for Caspar (as an attachment to this response), indicating he served in that war out of Ripley, which neighbors Cooperstown.

In the 1860 census, the only Huffman's listed with the letter C (there is no Caspar) are born in Virginia. All the Huffman's in Brown County, except those born in Virginia, are my husband's relatives, and are accounted for. I do know there are Huffmans in Schuyler County records and you may want to check out their website as well. Schuyler and Brown were once one county.

I have also given you a census page from Ancestry.com showing a Caspar Huffman, exactly the right age, and single, in Ohio that year.

What I don't know is whether or not you have their death information.  That would certainly give you some leads, especially if you can find an obituary. You may have done all this already.

I'm sorry that this is all we can offer. If you have access to Ancestry.com, you might want to do some broad searches based on both their names, as well as looking at Veteran information. With a name like Caspar, he can't hide easily.
