Dear
Barbara,
This appears to be a
difficult problem. Starting with the marriage
:
MOORE,
ETHAN ALLEN COPPAGE, ELIZA CATHERINE
07/25/1847 A&B/0000382 BROWN
I
got the full names. Assuming they stayed in Brown County, here’s the closest
thing to their names in the 1850 Census:

Notice that there is a
Westly Coppage next door. This strengthens the possibility that these are the
same people. Census people were notorious for misspelling and interpolating
names, so Ethan could become Eaton. I’m not too surprised at the differences.
They have two children both who could have been conceived and born after the
marriage date, not that this is real important but it strengthens the
assumption. Some quick calculations: 9 months after the marriage is April 1848.
The Census calculates from June 1850. One year and 9 months from that date is
October 1848. So they can easily fit into the rime between Jul 1847 and June
1850.
They appear to have left
before the 1860 Census. They do not appear in the 1860 or 1870 Censuses. They
also do not appear to be buried in any of the Brown County Cemeteries. You might
try to find them in the nearby counties, unless you have information that might
lead you to somewhere else.
I
found this in the 1860 Illinois AIS Census

Hopefully, these will give
you places to look and possibly find them.
With respect to your
question about Suzann Holland. Many people give their emails out and then change
them and forget to keep me up to date. You could try using www.411.com to see if you can find
her.
Sincerely,
Ken
