Dear Betty,

Here’s the information you requested:

From Cemeteries of Brown County, Illinois

Mt Sterling Catholic Cemetery pp. 154, 175, 194, 199,

Misc Burials pp. 410-411

Phillip Morschhauser, 1833 – 1910

Magdalena, wife of Phillip Morschhauser, 1834 –1902

Adam Morschhauser, [2nd] son of Philip and Magdalena Morschhauser, 1868 – 1891

Valentine Morschhauser, [3rd] son of Philip and Magdalena Morschhauser, 1871 – 1902

Phillip Morschhauser, [4th] son of Philip and Magdalena Morschhauser, [no dates]

Lena Morschhauser, [5th] dau. of Philip and Magdalena Morschhauser, [no dates]

Anna Morschhauser, [6th] dau. of Philip and Magdalena Morschhauser, [no dates]

Anton Morschhauser, [1st] son of Philip and Magdalena Morschhauser, 1865 – 1945

Magdalena Bauers, wife of Anton Morschhauser, 1866 – 1948

Note: the numbers in [] are the childrens positions in the family from the family relationships section on p. 194.

On p. 154 Anton is listed as a trustee of the Cemetery in the organizational meeting held 25 Aug 1919.

On p. 199, Magdalena Bauers is listed with her family. There is some confusion here in that her family is listed with the surname of Young, which would make her Magdalena Bauers Young. The person writing the family history causes the confusion in how Magdalena’s mothers middle name is given. At first look, her maiden name appears to be Bauers  but proves to be Meyers in another entry and Magdalena appears to have gotten her middle name from her mother’s middle name. This confusion is caused by the way the Cemeteries book was compiled. The confusion can only be resolved by checking the related entries and perhaps even looking at other sources. I have given only what I found in the Cemeteries book.

In the Misc. Burials Sections:
Magdaena Morschhauser – 20 May 1902

Anthony Morschhauser – 30 July 1945

Sincerely,

Ken Huffman

I am hoping that you can help me with my family.  The name is Morschhauser, but can be found misspelled often.  Phillip and his wife and children were in Mt Sterling by 1870.  Phillip died 1910, Magdalena 20 May 1902.  I have a couple of death dates for their children, but would like to find the rest of them.  Children are Phillip, Anthony, Magdalena, Adam, Valentine, Anna, John and Leo.  They were German and probably Catholic if that helps narrow the cemeteries.

Thank you for any help you can give me.
