Dear Tamara,

Here is the entry in the 1860 Census you referred to. I’m sending the whole entry, since it will take almost as much effort to explain it if I don’t.

1860 Census of Brown County, Illinois, Missouri Twp

1734/1674

Thomas Forsythe 33 m farmer Ireland

Mrs Parthena Forsythe 26 f Illinois

Mary Forsythe 6 f Illinois

John Forsythe 3 m Illinois

Lucy Forsythe 11/12 f Illinois

Matthew White 23 m farmer Kentucky

Matthew could be Parthena’s brother or he could be just a hired worker on the farm.

The following marriage entry makes him the latter.

Groom                            Bride                         Date                 Book/Page       County

FORSYTHE, THOMAS   BELL, PARTHINA   11/17/1853 A&B/00000297 BROWN

Sincerely,

Ken Huffman

Hello.

I was looking at your index of the Brown Co., Illinois 1860 census and their is a Matthew White Listed at M1734, Can you tell me is any of the following people also lived in his household.  Some of the children may have already moved out on their own.  And I have to idea of a wife's name.

       Matthew   Age aprox 49
       Samuel           Age 26
       Mary          Age 22
       James       Age 20
       Sarah         Age 18
       Eliza           Age 14 or 16
       Matilda           Age 13

These people lived in Jo Daviess Co. Illinois in 1840 & 1850.  However, I don't find them there after that.

Thank you for you help.

Tamara (White) Miller
