THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

Of MARY A. NEWNHAM of the City of Mt. Sterling in the County of Brown and

State of Illinois made and published the 29th day of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and twenty-one.

IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. I, Mary A. Newnham of the City of Mt. Sterling in the County of Brown and State of Illinois of the age of 59 years, and being of sound mind and memory, do hereby make, publish and declare this my LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT in the manner following, that is to say:

FIRST–It is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid.

Second–I herein direct that my executor hereinafter named shall sell all of my personal property without any order of court and I further direct that my said executor, as soon after my decease as practicable, shall sell all my real estate and I herein authorize and empower my said executor to make, execute and deliver any and all necessary deed or deeds to properly convey my said real estate, and same may be sold at either public or private sale as my said executor shall deem best and said Exector out of the proceeds of said sale of said personal property and said real estate shall first pay my funeral expenses and just debts and then dispose of the remaining proceeds as hereinafter directed:

I give and bequeath and direct that the sum of Fifty Dollars – first – be paid to Dorothy Hetrick.

After the full payment of said $50.00 then – I direct that the sum of One Hundred Dollars be paid to Mary McClary that she may use same as she desires in the interest of Lyman Lee in securing an education.

All the remainder and residue of the proceeds of my property I direct that same be paid to the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Mt. Sterling, Illinois (paying same to the trustees thereof for said church) but in the event said remaining proceeds amount to the sum of Seven hundred dollars – the I direct that said executor pay to Woodland Home for Orphans and Friendless of Quincy, Illinois the sum of Two hundred dollars and then pay all the remainder of said proceeds to said First Methodist Episcopal Church of Mt. Sterling, Illinois.

Lastly, I hereby nominate and appoint J. E. Allison, if living at the time of my decease to be the Executor of this my last Will and Testament and in the event of his death prior to that time, I hereby nominate and appoint James O. Briggs to be the Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 29th day of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and twenty-one.

The above instrument consisting of two sheets, was now here subscribed by Mary A. Newnham the Testator, in the presence of each of us, and was at the same time declared by her to be her Last Will and Testament, and we, at her request sign our names hereto in her presence as attesting Witnesses.
