Dear
John,
The
burial record in Cemeteries of Brown
County has the following entry:
Mt
Sterling City Cemetery, pp 232, 264
Harland
D. Ray (1892-1928) Co. D
2nd Div. WWI
On page
423 of the same book, they have a military honor roll. On that page he is
listed:
Harland
D. Ray WWI Pvt. Army Co. D 2nd Div. d. 18 Apr
1927
This
gives you a little better death date and some additional military
information.
Van Ray
is listed as his father and Elizabeth (Bates) Ray is his mother. They also are
buried here. Note also the name spelling of Harland instead of Harlan. This
could be an error. Since he died in 1927, you can get his death certificate from
the State of Illinois. Last time I checked they were charging about $15. The
death certificate will be somewhat better than the death record. You can look up
his obituary in the Mt Sterling paper. They have that year on microfilm in the
Mt Sterling Public library. Sometimes you can get them on interlibrary loan. I
did to a library in Denver, CO.
Hope
this helps.
Sincerely,
Ken
Huffman

tell me what information you are seeking and perhaps some of the information you
already have. With this I can better assess what I have that may help and
suggest where to find the information
that still needs to be found. Sincerely, Ken
