Dear Doris,

There are many Davis burials in the Howe cemetery, most of which are descendants of William J. Davis. Those you have requested appear to be, according to the family relationship section on p. 101, all connected to J. C. and R. Davis (parentage not noted) . The section on the Davis's is poorly written, and many names are wrong. We have tried, by using censuses and marriage records, to sort these out, but some of it is open to conjecture. There is among them a Jackson G. Davis and wife Mary, who might prove to be the "J. C." in your group. (Headstone engravers often got the initials wrong.) As for the wife given only as "R", we have no answer (maybe another wife?). I have listed the information for Jackson G. Davis and wife, Mary, just in case there proves to be a connection. I have also listed their marriage from the Illinois State Marriage Index Online.

I hope this will be of help to you.
