Dear Rebecca,

Here’s what I found. You can verify this on line at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilbrown/1850_Census/Brown_County_1850_Census290.html#fam782

You can search for other names in the 1850 census at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilbrown/1850_Census/Brown_County_1850_Census-index.html

Sincerely,

Ken Huffman

Wow, thanks so much for going out of your way to get a hold of me.

I was checking my email daily, looking for your response and was thinking of writing again, when I went to the Welcome page and saw your message.   My internet provider is in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, where I live, and occasionally people do have problems with sending me with email.  Sorry about that.

I promise I won’t ask any more questions (for a while) if you can do one more thing for me J.

I’ll explain my problem. In the 1850 census they have Joseph Groves (jr) and Sarah Ann with their children, one being my ggrandfather  Stephen Jasper. The grandfather Joseph Groves (sr) is living with them.

The problem is that I could never find anything to verify a Joseph Groves (jr) as my ggrandfather’s father. Things kept pointing to a Jacob Groves being the father and now I have word from another descendant that, yes Jacob Groves was the father of my ggrandfather Stephen Jasper, though I don’t think he has proof to verify this.

If you see the actual census, is there a chance that the census actually reads Jacob and not Joseph for the family head?

IF you can check the 1850 census just to see if the name could be Jacob Groves and not Joseph Groves, it would help straighten out this problem and then I will have verifying information as to whom my gggrandfather is.

Thank you very much,

Here is a second email address to respond to if you wish to try.
