Dear Violet,

I am including the names from pages 14 and 68 in this email, as well as the cemetery lookups for 1840 and 1860, and the item on John Harbour from the History of Brown County. I have photocopied page 128 of the Cemetery listings (Harbour Cemetery), but I need to mail it to you (regular mail), as my scanner is on the blink and I have not had any good luck using it.

I will also include three pages on the Tice Family history from Cemeteries of Brown County, IL pp. 626-628.

Marriages which are relevant to the names listed have been included using the Illinois State Marriage Index Online: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/GenealogyMWeb/marrsrch.html  The dates in the listings are given as month/day/year. I highly recommend that you check the site for more marriages, including daughters, in Brown County and all surrounding counties, if you have not already done so.

I will need your snail-mail address to mail the 5 photocopied pages (includes title page) – at no charge – my pleasure.

Let me know if there are any questions, and please keep in mind that I will not be able to respond between the 18th and the 25th due to our upcoming move.

RESPONSE TO EMAIL RECEIVED 8/11/06 at 8:36 a.m. Ref: John Harbour p. 228, History of Brown County, IL:

The reference, taken from the section on Buckhorn Township, reads as follows: “The Devil’s Tea Table is located in Buckhorn Township on the Bill Leeper farm (now John Harbour’s land) in the northwest quarter of section 36 in the heart of Wildcat Hollow. It is a natural curiosity: a huge sandstone rock formation resembling a table.”          NOTE: This is only an excerpt. John Harbour is not mentioned further.

Please note that the 1840 census is fully extracted and available online at our website. The following URL will take you directly to the page where you can search the name index. Just click on the name you want (Abner, Thomas R. & Sam’l Harbour) and the page will appear where that name is recorded, with full census data. Remember that until 1850, there were no family members names given, only the head of household. All family members, and others living in the household are listed in age groups. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilbrown/1840_Census/1840_Federal_Census-idx.html
