Rusty Brown 5 Aug 2003

(Baker, Bowen, Linn/Lynn, Long, McDannold, Shankland)

My name is Rusty Brown. I am a descendant from the Philip Edmond and Mahala(McDannald) Linn family. Philip and Mahala were my great great grandparents.

Mahala passed away in 185? Philip remarried to a Christena Long. They went to Oregon in 1865.

I had the opportunity of a life time to travel to Ilinois last October and was able to step foot in the area where my ancestors once lived. And to view first hand of what the Linn Cemetery outside of Mount Sterling actually looks like. I am trying to organize a committee of sorts to Restore that cemetery next year. We welcome all help.

If anyone should be related through McDannald, McDannold, Lynn, Linn, Bowen, Shankland and many more we would like your help

In addition. I discovered one grave in the Linn Cemetery that isn't listed in the Brown/Schuylar County Cemetery Book. There is a Michael Baker buried there. He was a neighboring Farmer or Philip E. Linn and John McDannald. He died Nov. 11,1852 aged 59 yrs. 11 mos. and 9 d.s.

(Haley, Parker)

I am interested in learning more about the PARKER and HALEY families who resided in Brown County Ohio from 1840-1880, their descendants, and their Kentucky roots. Census records place most of the Parkers and Haley's in Missouri and Mt Sterling Twps.

Alexander PARKER (12 May 1793 VA--6 Jun 1870), his wife Eliza (3 Jan 1803 KY--10 Apr 1861) and their children: Richard, John, William B, Thomas, Edward, Charles, Juliann, Charlotte, Cora, and I think there may have been others. They came from KY to IL about 1835.

William M HALEY(1800 KY--?) and his wife Nancy (1812 KY--?) and their children: Mary Elizabeth, Frances, Margaret Ann, Nancy, Harriett, James, John, Emeline, George WC, Ellen, and Fred. The Haley's came from KY to IL about 1835, also.

My own line descents from William B PARKER and Margaret Ann HALEY. They moved to Missouri where Margaret Ann died and WB remarried to Mrs. Mary THOMAS in Linn County, MO.

(McMeins)

I am looking for information about Ted, John, and George McMeins from the Mt. Sterling area. I think George was probably born around 1855. I'm not sure but I think John and Ted were his sons. I heard something about a drowning. I know this is not much to go on, but if you hear anything about this family please contact me.

(Miller)

I found a query for Miller from a Liz Osborne on the Brown County, Illinois website. McKendra Miller was a direct ancestor of my husband, Lyle Lewis of Brown County, Illinois. McKendra took over the pottery in Ripley after his father's death about 1880. He later moved it to Missouri and then to Athens, Texas. John B. Miller was McKendra's brother and moved with him following the death of his wife Mary Catherine Peterson. The pottery became one of the largest in the state of Texas. We cannot find where the parents are buried, Joseph Miller, but I do have more information on the family, since some of them stayed in Illinois, specifically, Brown County. Thank you. Sharon Lewis, R.R.#3, Box #239, Mt. Sterling, Illinois 62353.
