Subject: Brown County (1860 Census Index)

Hi,

I wasn’t sure how to word my request but here it goes; I am researching my g grandfather Joseph Michael Woods, b. 1856 NY (on the 1860 census it said IL), he was born in NY to parents John? and Mary? Woods and was their last child, they are said to have died shortly after arriving in the US, possibly in NY or in IL where Joseph and his siblings lived shortly after arriving.

Other siblings are Patrick, b.1830, Michael, b. 1832, John, b. 1840 (he married a Elizabeth Fitzgerald in Brown County, November 27, 1866), Bridget, b. 1842 (m. a Gaffney), Johanna, b.1844 (d. on board ship?), and Joseph mentioned above.

These are the ones we know of but probably not all.  Family came from Dingle Bay, Kerry County, Ireland right before Joseph’s birth in 1856.

I found a John Fitzgerald P1554 listed on the 1860 Census list, he could possibly be a father to the Elizabeth who m. John Woods.

When I found Joseph M. Woods on the 1860 census he was listed in Camden twp, in Schulyer cty, IL.

How hard would it be to get the info on the following: I don’t want to over burden you with one query?

Let me know, thanks,

Wood, C. A.
